'A Very
Special Thank You'
    Our family
has been very blessed
throughout the years with the people who have shown their love for
Jacob and for us. On
May 11th and 12th(2001), we were amazed once again with the incredible
kindness of a group
of people who gave up their weekend to build Jacob a wheelchair ramp
and to enrich his
life.
    Kathy MacKenzie, an aide in
Jacob's pre-school classroom, saw that the 'J man' had received a new
wheelchair and that we
were struggling to get him in and out of our house each day. Realizing
the need for a ramp
since each entrance to our house has stairs, she called upon her
friends and the community
service group, The
Mark
Pescatello Scholarship Committee to build Jacob's
ramp. Amazingly, six men from the group came over Friday afternoon to
start building and
by late Saturday afternoon, the ramp was completed! All the materials
and labor were
donated. Moreover, Kathy and all the teachers from Jacob's class came
over for a surprise
ramp celebration party!

  The Mark Pescatello Scholarship Committee
was started five years
ago when Mark, the brother of group
member Wayne Pescatello, lost his life in a motor cycle accident. The
committee started
out by putting in a granite bench overlooking the high school football
field where Mark
coached. They have since raised over $80,000 for scholarships, medical
expenses and the
Make-A-Wish foundation to name a few.
Thanks
to Kathy and these
wonderful people, our lives are a lot easier:
